Hi, brothers and sisters,
I intend buying a Savage next year but unfortunatly the bike is a rare beast here in Ireland. Any that are here are American or Japanese imports so I am hoping to get an importer to pick me up a Savage in Japan.
I am 50 and not been driving ( real ) bikes that long ( 3 years ) but in that time I'v had CB650 C, CB 900 C,
CBX 750, Ltd 550, XS 400 Special, CB 550, Vulcan
( EN ) 400, XJ 650 and ridden GPZ 900, CX 500 & Ltd 440. But never a thumper. I like the looks and style of the Savage but one thing worries me : the lack of upper end power. I always like a little in reserve AND, while not a speed freak ( 75 - 80 mph usually does ) I like to hit the ton now and then. Now, I've been reading a lot on the Savage but I'd be obliged for some good solid advice on purchasing and maybe how to up the power a little at the top end. I know about
the plastic bit in the carb but would it be worth the money replacing exhaust and filter ( for K & N, say ).
Maybe someone has contacts in EC for secondhand Savages ? Anyway, any information on bike will be greatly appreciated. Hope to chat again soon ( and maybe this time I'll stick with the one bike for a little longer ).
G'luck and ride between the ditches.
